Scholarship Programme
The Maybank Scholarship Programme aims to provide full sponsorship for high quality students in local and foreign premier universities. It is part of the Group’s human capital development strategy to ensure a pool of leaders who can help Maybank achieve its vision as a regional financial services leader

Overseas: 17th – 30th June 2011
Local : 14th – 31st January 2012
Features:
  • Full sponsorship (tuition fees, accommodation, laptop and allowances)
  • Employment with Maybank after studies.

Requirements:
  • Not more than 23 years of age
  • Obtained admission to or currently pursuing full-time degree
  • Obtained minimum 3 As or its equivalent in STPM/Foundation/Pre-U or minimum CGPA of 3.50 in University
  • Leadership experience in at least 3 co-curricular activities (high school onwards)
  • Individuals with high energy and who aspire to seek challenging and rewarding career upon graduation
  • Applicants must not be a recipient of any other scholarship or award from other organizations/foundations

FAQ
1. What is Maybank Scholarship Award?
Maybank Scholarship Award aims to assist deserving high potential students who are currently pursuing studies (a full-time degree) at JPA approved universities.

2. I am a Maybank staff. Am I eligible for the Maybank Scholarship Award?
Staff is not eligible for the Maybank Scholarship Award. However, confirmed staff whose children meet our qualifying criteria can apply for the scholarship.

3. What are the qualifying criteria for the Maybank Scholarship Award?
  • Not more than 23 years of age
  • Obtained admission to or currently pursuing full-time degree
  • Obtained minimum 3 As or its equivalent in STPM/Foundation/Pre-U or minimum CGPA of 3.50 in University
  • Leadership experience in at least 3 co-curricular activities (high school onwards)

4. What are the fields of study accepted to qualify for the Maybank Scholarship Award?

5. If I choose a different discipline, will my application still be considered?
Yes, although preference will be for courses which have been pre-determined.

6. What will I get from the Maybank Scholarship Award?
You will receive:
  • Full sponsorship (tuition fees, accommodation, laptop and allowances)
  • Employment with Maybank after studies

7. What happens once I have successfully completed my degree?
You will have the opportunity to join Maybank. Being a scholar also means that you are considered for the Maybank Apprentice Program, the bank’s leadership entry pipeline.

8. Which universities in Malaysia are accepted under the Maybank Scholarship Award?
Students from JPA approved universities who meet our qualification criteria are encouraged to apply.

9. What are the expectations of a Maybank Scholar during the period of scholarship?
You are expected to perform at the highest level throughout the duration of your study. Scholars must satisfy all course works, examinations and/or dissertation requirements, as well as meet the minimum CGPA of 3.50 every semester to be eligible for the scholarship.

10. Is there a bond?

Yes, there is a scholarship bond imposed on Maybank Scholars.

11. Which intake is applicable for me?

Maybank Scholarship Award is available in 2 categories:
  • Overseas: Students who obtained admission to or currently pursuing full-time degree overseas
  • Local: Students who obtained admission to or currently pursuing full-time degree in local public and private universities.

12. What about students in twinning programmes?
3+0 twinning programmes fall under local intake whereas for students who are required to complete their degrees in overseas (eg. 2+1), fall under overseas intake.

13. How many guarantors are required? Who is suitable to be my guarantor?
2 guarantors are required to complete your scholarship application. A guarantor is someone who guarantees that you will adhere to the agreement of the Scholarship award (i.e. the terms and conditions). A guarantor should typically be someone who is close to you (e.g. family member, friend, family friend, etc) and is financially stable, should you in any way break the Scholarship Agreement terms.
